To coincide with the London 2012 Olympic Games,  Film and Video Umbrella and De La Warr Pavilion presented an exhibition of newly commissioned moving image artworks on the theme of sporting excellence.

Working in collaboration with top athletes and scientists, four internationally acclaimed artists considered the state of being ‘in the zone’ – the way in which athletes achieve a heightened sense of performance in which body and mind  operate in unison, at maximum impact and with optimum ‘flow’.

To accompany the exhibition we programmed a series of talks, events and workshops intended to offer an insight into the creative process of the artists, illuminate the biomedical science behind the works in the exhibition, and provide opportunities for audiences to find out more.

Filmmaker David Bickerstaff  created short documentaries on the making of each of the new artworks, and writers including Ed Smith, Sukhdev Sandhu and Stephen Mumford were commissioned to write essays reflecting on the ideas contained within the exhibition. Guest bloggers will also be invited to contribute via the blog section of this site.

Everything Flows is commissioned and curated by Film and Video Umbrella and De La Warr Pavilion. Supported by The Wellcome Trust and Arts Council England.
